Blue Square South Guide
The Blue Square South Guide is a comprehensive resource for fans of teams in the Blue Square South. The Guide is the place to find all the news and all information about each team, linking you to all the relevant websites including Club Websites, fora and media.
I acknowledge the time and dedication that it takes to run and update websites and aim to be the central hub linking you to all the relevant sites for this League, which is why I don't believe in just copying and pasting news stories that other people have gone to the bother of writing and publishing on the web without even acknowledging where they came from.
I have done a design update of the site for the forthcoming season, I hope you like it.
As well as the design changes I have been working on a few extra pages and services, I have added a Map and Mileage page, new pages for the Blue Square South Feeder Leagues, the Southern and Isthmian leagues. You can now also find all the latest news from a particular club via a link from each teams dedicated page. There is an all time Conference South league Table based on average points per season. I have also added a Video Wall where you can view Match clips. Lastly, there is now a page on Ground Grading rules, these detail the differences between Grade A, B and C, with a link provided to the full requirements on the F.A. website. Some of these pages will be added to over the summer.
I set up squad pages for each club last Summer, but again unfortunately I had no time to actually keep these up to date, I didn't want to completely forego the idea, so as well as adding links to each Clubs offficial pen pics, I've gone all wiki (Well, not quite!) and have opened it up so you can update your own teams squads, so Register now to be able to get involved, don't forget also that as soon as you have registered you will be able to input match reports and write a blog.
You can e-mail me at csg@confsouth.co.uk or click the contact us button to let me know what you think of the updates or if there is anything else you'd like to see
From the home page of the site you can link to all of the clubs pages on the menu down the left and also the numerous other pages on the site. The news stories on the front page link to external news stories, and the older news stories can be found by clicking 'more news'. If there's a story you think I've missed then contact me to let me know on the link above.
Once you navigate into a clubs page, you can find links to all relevant sites for that club, i.e. websites, fora, media. There are also links in the second column to:
- Latest News - which takes you to a list of all the latest news for that partcular club.
- Guide, location and directions - which takes you to a map of where the stadium is situated, within this map you can then search for local amenities i.e. pub, hotel, restaurant. You can get directions. There is also a form so you can tell us of any pubs, restaurants or hotels you have visited in the vicinity.
- Squad info - which will give you details of all the players in the squad and allow you as a supporter to keep your clubs squad up to date and input your own pen pics.
- Match Reports - which will link to any match reports and also allow you to upload your own reports.
Live Score updates were originated on the site for the season 2006/2007, and was the first site to do live scores for this level of football. Remember Sky Sports live scores are only updated at half and full time, the live scores are brought to you by volunteers of the clubs and their supporters. Thanks to everyone who has helped with updating the live scores service. I am always looking for people to help so if you can help, e-mail me at csg@confsouth.co.uk or click the contact us button and let me know. It's rather easy to do, all you need is a phone with any wap/gprs connection, most phones these days have this capability.
The site is updated daily, whilst on match days I update the site as soon as possible after games are played but I might be off watching a match so sometimes it will be later than others.
Please, if you see any errors no matter how small e-mail me and let me know, also it is easier to gather information on some clubs more than others so if there's anything you think I should know then please don't hesitate to tell me. All help will be gratefully received.
The Conference South Guide was originated by Nick Bell for the inaugural season 2004/2005. The original site ceased in October 2005 and was re-started by myself on November 20th 2005. My thanks go to Nick for all his help during the handover. I would also like to thank David Bauckham for the use of the photographs from his wonderful site www.pyramidpassion.co.uk.
