   Groundhopper

Oddly the remarks printed in the Non-League Paper by 'Groundhopper' seem to have come totally out of context with the game I saw at Staines. Far be it from me to defend the behaviour of a small number of County fans, who at times have let their club down, but on this occasion, I saw or heard nothing. Moreover if you take care to read what groundhopper seemed so upset about, it really does seem to be that he was a man looking to be offended.
Boring old men like me tend to sit in the stand, I do this because I like to enjoy the game without the constant abuse hurled at linesmen, referees, and opposition players and fans. I don't have a problem with those people who want to relieve the tensions in their lives by so doing, it's just not for me. Where I have a problem with 'Groundhopper' who it seems deliberately stood in amongst the more raucous element of the travelling support, and then complained that they made a noise.
The Non-League Paper likewise seems to want to eat its cake and have it. Stating that views expressed by article writers are not necessarily the views of the paper, while not be able to recognise that to print nonsense makes the paper look foolish. That people are 'obnoxious' because they challenge throw in decisions is stretching a point somewhat.
So should 'Groundhopper' feel that the only purpose to life is to be outraged by the offensiveness of others, while being totally impervious to how obnoxious his own views are in and of themselves, might I make a couple of suggestions. Firstly get a life, maybe get some counselling, learn to embrace your inner child, accept that within bounds, those who like to shout and question authority, have a right to do so.
Failing that why not start posting on the Newport County message board, there are a few on there who share your world view.
