A refs view from the Shed
15-11-2009
I think we are safe now!
Forty points on the board so we should be OK this season!
Nice to see a good crowd over two thousand wonder if the Newport public will keep that up and perhaps get even bigger gates and to be honest we ain't playing that well at the moment things are looking good if you can still win games and not play that well.
Turning to referring matters a blank weekend for me thanks to the powers that be at the FAW perhaps its not that bad i could catch the mighty Port this week!
Have to say today's ref was one of the fussiest refs i have come a cross and did like the sound of his own whistle i mean some of the things he blew for were 50/50 challenges i was going to say he was consistent yes consistently bad! but he was not three or four times he made the County take the ball back at least 3 inch's but seem to let Bromley pinch a few yards strange that!
Fair play to the Linesman (Simon) on the shed side he took some stick from the shed especially when he had his note book out to record a booking "stop texting Simon" came the cry from the shed.
One of life's mysteries to me is how many people went to Carl Zeiss Jana over the years the amount of County fans that said they were there we would have filled the ground three times over!
Anyway Up the Port!

Where do I start
I Took up Refereeing when the original County went bust I believed it was all over for the County then and so refed in the Newport&District league passed all my exams and slowly but surely climbed the Refereeing ladder not being a very ambitious person never have its only the last three seasons I have really gain promotion to the heights of the Welsh League.
Anyway to my game Saturday Pentwyn Dynamos v Aberbargoed Buds Att about 6! arrived at Pentwyn`s ground at 1pm as usual an hour before kickoff but I should have cut my loses there and then standing outside waiting for the leisure centre attendant to open the changing rooms! This is Welsh League mind I have seen parks games better organised!
So I go for my warm up and check the pitch well I have seen better ploughed fields! What can only be described as potholes yes potholes I got Pentwyn`s captain and asked him where the manager was "he`s not here yet" well can you get someone to fill them holes as someone could get injured "I will see what I can do" was the reply but when you say put it this way if it’s not done we don’t start you get things done I have found over the years.
So to the match which kicked off 12 minutes late due to the home side being late and the nets not up to standard things getting worse I knew I should have gone to Dover!
Aberbargoed (managed by ex County Player John Lewis) made the better start and making better use of the ploughed field! Found their way to a one goal lead at half time and before I blew the whistle for half time I had to stop the game twice for potholes again! They just kept appearing!
Anyway start the second half and ten minutes in I found another pothole but only when I was on the ground in a heap I think they felt the tremor in Dover! So the Aberbargoed physio treated me for about ten bloody minutes but I could not continue and so had to abandon the Game! I knew it was not going to be my day I know I should have gone to Dover.
Well done Deano and the boys on a fine win that’s our second Cup Final this year and we have done the double (eat your hearts out Arsenal!)
