   Some Promising New Faces

Welcome to my debut blog and thank you for taking some time to read it. I hope to keep this area updated weekly with all the latest news, signings and match reports from SW19. Altogether, hopefully, giving you a regular, informative, intresting read.
Well, its been a very exciting pre-season so far for the Wombles with 9 new signings adding strength in depth to the backbone of last seasons promotion winning squad. All of the on-field activity coupled with major ground developments off the field has made it probably the most exciting 'non-football' period for Dons fans since the ground breaking maiden voyage of 2002. Kicking off the signing spree was the first new arrival Lewis Taylor, a former Don returing for a second spell after being a key player in Horsham's FA Cup run last Term. Then came Alan Inns on a free transfer from Hampton & Richmond Borough, always a thorn in the Wombles side during Hamptons Ryman League Days he is sure to quickly install himself at the heart of the Dons backline. I am sure he will also prove himself to be a more than suitable replacement for the USA bound Frankie Howard. Also joining Alan from the Middlesex club is former team mate Elliot Godfrey, a Canadian birth the attacking midfielder is certain to entertain some bumper crowds at the 'meadow of kings' this season. The other notable new recruits are Tom Davis, who collected a Blue Square South champions medal with Lewes last time out, as well as Chris Sullivan, a pacy forward player who joins from Braintree Town where he gained experience at Conference South level last campaign whilst impressing manager Terry Brown enough to earn a move to south west London. Joining them is Belal Aiteouakrim who enjoyed a sucessful campaign with Hendon last year. Another proven goalscorer Belal is sure to fit in well along side Jon Main and Chis Sullivan. Terry Brown also captured the signature of Micheal Peacock a hot prospect for the future joining form North Greenford United of the Combined Counties Premier where the world famous AFC Wimbledon started all those 6 years ago. The final three signings come in the shape of Stevie Gilbert, Kennedy Adjei who both enjoyed good seasons with the youth and reserve teams. Finally, Ben Judge arrives from Bromley of a permanent deal after a loan spell at the back end of last season which saw him make no apperances due to injury. A big welcome to all of our new recruits from all Dons fans and a big welcome back to Lewis Taylor.
Off-field there is the main stand extension and roof frontage extension to keep us occupied to find out more and see the photo diary of developments I suggest a visit to excellent official website at afcwimbledon.co.uk and why your there why not listen to the great podcast explaining all of the above (keep an eye out as the plans are to make the podcasts a regular feature). Well thats all from my first update from Kingsmeadow thanks for staying with me through the dribble and hopefully I will keep it breifer next time.

Signing Off,

Imperial Don
